Period Insights explain why a week, month, or year performed the way it did. They combine trades, fees, behavioral tags, playbooks, and journal scores into a focused review panel inside Calendar.
Where Period Insights Appear
Open Calendar, choose Week, Month, or Year, then review the summary area beside or below the calendar grid. The Period Insight Grid loads for the active period and updates when you change period, P&L mode, or behavioral settings.
The grid is intentionally period-based. It does not judge a single trade in isolation; it asks what repeated behavior shaped the selected period.
Primary KPIs
The top row highlights the metrics that usually explain the period fastest:
| KPI | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Cost of Tilt | Difference between actual results and a disciplined baseline for behavior/error-tagged trades. Negative values mean flagged behavior reduced the period result. |
| Behavior Frequency | How many closed trades were flagged by behavior or error rules. |
| Fee Drag | Total fees compared with gross P&L. High fee drag can expose churn, repeated re-entries, or broker-cost pressure. |
| Giveback | Profit given back after being up during the period, measured from daily peak profits. |
| Overtraded | Number of trading days that exceeded the overtrading threshold. |
| Worst Day | The largest losing day in the selected period, using the active P&L mode. |
Each KPI can include a comparison against the previous equivalent period, directional tone, confidence level, and tooltip context.
Behavior Drivers
The Behavior Drivers section shows what most strongly shaped the period:
- Best Playbook highlights the assigned setup with the strongest contribution.
- Worst Playbook shows the assigned setup with the weakest result.
- Error Tags lists the most common behavior/error tags when behavioral tracking is enabled.
- Top Tags lists regular tags, excluding broker/source and behavior markers.
If no playbooks are assigned, the grid shows an empty state. Assign playbooks on trades to make this section useful.
Discipline Health
Discipline Health connects the Calendar result to the Daily Journal:
- Readiness uses mental, physical, and market readiness scores from Day Journal entries.
- Discipline averages logged discipline, execution, risk control, and plan adherence when enough fields are present.
This is the bridge between trade data and journaling. A profitable period with poor discipline is a warning. A losing period with strong discipline may simply need setup or market-context review.
Giveback Drilldown
Click Giveback when total giveback is above zero. The drilldown shows the days that contributed to giveback and labels the values as Net P&L after fees. Use Go to day to jump into the exact day in Week view.
Giveback is always Net-only, even if the Calendar is currently in Before Fees mode.
Dynamic Verdict
The period summary uses insights to produce a more specific verdict. When the period has enough data, the verdict can reference behavior leaks, fee drag, giveback, playbooks, or other measurable drivers. When data is thin, it falls back to a simpler outcome-and-cause summary instead of showing an empty state.
Improving The Insight Quality
The grid becomes more useful when you consistently:
- Import clean broker data with the correct timezone.
- Assign playbooks to trades.
- Use tags for trade context and mistakes.
- Complete Day Journal readiness and discipline fields.
- Keep behavioral tagging enabled and tuned in behavior settings.
