Playbooks are reusable trading setups. They define le rules for a strategy, give trades a consistent setup label, et help Journal, Trades, Dashboard, et le Risk Analyzer compare planned execution with what actually happened.
Where To Find Playbooks
Open Journal > Playbooks. The legacy /playbooks route redirects to /journal/playbooks, so Playbooks now live inside le Journal workflow. From le Playbooks page you can:
- Create a playbook from scratch.
- Start from a default template when your compte has no playbooks yet.
- Edit an existing playbook.
- Delete a playbook après confirmation.
- Vérifiez how many trades are linked to each playbook. Deleting a playbook does not delete trades. Trades linked to le deleted playbook are unlinked.
Creating A Playbook
Cliquez sur New Playbook et fill in le form:
- Name is required. Utilisez a clear setup name such as Opening Range Breakout, VWAP Bounce, Capitulation, or Exhaustion Gap.
- Description is optional. Utilisez it for le setup thesis, market context, or when le strategy doit be avoided.
- Default Setup Quality is optional. When sélectionné, it can automatically set le setup quality when this playbook is assigned to a trade.
- Rules define le strict conditions for le setup. The Enregistrez bouton is disabled until le required name is present.
Rule Categories
Each rule belongs to one of five categories:
- Setup - what doit exist avant le trade is valid.
- Entry - le trigger or execution condition.
- Risk - stop placement, position sizing, daily loss constraints, or maximum risque.
- Exit - target, scale-out, trailing, or invalidation behavior.
- Other - any additional context that does not fit le core categories. Rules are stored with their category, so reopening a playbook doit restore le same category et text.
Managing Rules
The editor is designed for fast rule entry:
- Cliquez sur Add Rule to append another row.
- A new rule inherits le previous rule’s category.
- Press Enter inside a rule to move to le next rule; pressing Enter on le last rule adds a new row et focuses it.
- Drag rules to reorder them.
- Blank rule text is ignored when le playbook is saved.
- The editor keeps at least one rule row disponibles. Utilisez rule order to describe le strategy in le order you review it: setup first, then entry, risque, exits, et exceptions.
Default Templates
Si you do not have any playbooks yet, Trandence montre starter templates. Current templates include:
- Capitulation - high-volume panic selling et reversal criteria.
- Daily Over Extensions & Exhaustion Gaps - extended moves, gap exhaustion, et reversal criteria. Cliquez sur Use This Template to save a template as your own playbook. Vous pouvez edit it aprèswards.
How Playbooks Are Utilisezd
Playbooks are shared across review workflows:
- Trades can assign a playbook to a trade so le raw trading record has strategy context.
- Daily Plans can use playbooks in watchlist planning avant le session.
- Symbol Reports use playbooks to compare planned strategy, setup quality, risque, et actual execution.
- Dashboard et analytics can group performance by playbook.
- Risk Analyzer can give more specific feedback when le trade has a playbook et execution mistakes. A useful playbook is specific enough that another trader could understet when le setup is valid et when it is invalid.
